How to Organise a Course
Changes to Course Registration Procedures - June 2005
As part of the continuing effort to reduce the administrative burden but maintain our high quality the following changes to procedures are being implemented in June:
- The number of CAPP Forms is being reduced to 3:
CAPP 1 – For all training courses and re-validations
CAPP 2 – For all re-takes of examinations
CAPP 3 – For registering seminars and workshops - To assist in planning moderation visits all Course Organisers are required to supply a brief Course Timetable outlining the time and date of sessions and the topics to be covered.
- There will now only be 1 style of Candidate Application Form; previously there was a different form for each type of course.
- Previously some of the Candidate Application Forms had an
Assessment Declaration on the reverse these have been replaced by Examination Assessment Forms that will be distributed with the course material as appropriate. - All STA course material is being re-branded with our new
awarding body name – Safety Training Awards.
There are no other changes to Course Registration procedures.
Changes to course fees from 1st January 2008
From 1st January, the prices of STA courses will change please download CAPP form to see updated prices.
Please note all Retake Examinations will now be £13
Organising an STA Training Course is very simple provided you follow the laid down procedures:
- Courses can only be run by STA approved Course Organisers. If you are not currently an STA Course Organiser, click here (Word doc, contact us if you require another software version), complete the form and return it to the STA. There is no charge. Information is required for quality control purposes and to enable us to keep you informed of any changes in our procedures.
- For Course Administration Procedures please download this document (PDF, contact us if you require another software version).
- To register a course, you will need a Course Application Form (CAPP). There are different CAPP forms for different courses, as per the list below. Click the relevant form for the course you wish to register, you can choose between PDF or Word.

must send to the STA:

Alternatively they may be retained for transfer to a future course provided that the manuals remain current; this must be recorded on the Start of Course Declaration Form. Please note that details of all current manual versions and a list of changes can be found here.
- The STA will despatch the certificates to the candidates no later
than 28 days after the examination provided that:
