Welcome to STA, home to the world's largest swim teaching & lifesaving organisation
The Swimming Teachers' Association (STA) is a registered charity founded in 1932; with the charitable objective of...
"the preservation of human life by the teaching of swimming, lifesaving and survival techniques."
STA receives no UK Government funding or support, yet has experienced incredible success over the last few years.
Unlike other professional bodies who are experiencing declining memberships, STA is achieving significant growth; with over 6,000 members to date. In addition to this Safety Training Awards, which is the STA's awarding organisation name, is the only UK government accredited awarding organisation that has Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator) and SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) approval for its National Rescue Standard (NaRS) Lifeguarding / Lifesaving and First Aid qualifications, Swimming Teaching qualifications and Pool and Spa Plant qualifications being made available through a single organisation. Other qualifications currently under review include Aquacise, Sport Specific First Aid, Customer Care and Manual Handling.
This clearly demonstrates the STA’s commitment to providing nationally and internationally recognised and accredited vocational awards that address the needs of the sport and leisure industry, whilst also being fully aligned with the UK government’s strategy for raising standards and skills in the work place through the provision of high quality fit for purpose vocational qualifications.
