POOLBABIES RECEIVE TOP ACCOLADE
25.07.2005
Yorkshire based Morley Swim School and its subsidiary baby swim school, Poolbabies Ltd, has been awarded the prestigious STAmark accreditation following a thorough assessment period and becomes the first school in the region to have achieved the status.
Marjolyn Morley, an STA regional organiser, runs the Morley Swim School based in the small town of Stamford Bridge, Yorkshire. It is a member of the National Federation of Swimschools (NFS). The school was formed in 1990 by Marjolyn and one other teacher. In 1993 the ‘Bubble Club’ was created aimed at providing a facility purely for babies. Its popularity was so great that in 2002 Poolbabies Ltd was formed to address the demand. Marjolyn now employs five other teachers and as part of the STAmark assessment, employed Jean Ackroyd as Poolside Secretary to be responsible for poolside administration, accounts, and any queries that parents have.
The STAmark, has been developed by the STA as a quality award to help swim schools and similar organisations that teach swimming to improve the quality of service standards and to recognise good industry practice.
Marjolyn Morley, Morley Swim School, explained: “To be the first swim school in our region to achieve the STAmark is very rewarding. We chose to work towards it because the STA is the only organisation that recognises early Baby Swimming. Our success can be attributed to one main factor – team work. There’s no ‘I’ in team and this is extremely important to me.”
“This external accreditation process is a validation of our achievements and confirms that we are carrying out our work and managing responsibilities to a consistently high standard. It is also important to both the swim school and Poolbabies that the STA view us as a professional business dedicated to quality teaching as parents need to know that our standards are high and that their children are in safe hands,” Marjolyn Morley continued.
The STAmark accreditation assesses the overall management of a Swimschool and also focuses on the range, scope and quality of its swimming tuition. Recognition is not mutually exclusive, in that it acknowledges good industry practice.
