STA TO RUN CPR SKILLS TEST AT LIW

30.08.2005

The Swimming Teachers’ Association (STA) will be running a CPR skills competition at their stand 5040 at this year’s Leisure Industry Week. The event, which will be held at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre between September 20th and 22nd will give eager participants the opportunity to win a Resusci Anne Full-Body Manikin, provided by DM Wood Medical and worth £1400.

Adult entrants who score 70% or over and children with 50% or more on the CPR Skills Guide Monitor will automatically be entered into the prize draw. Visitors to the stand need not participate, as there will be a live camera feed allowing spectators to watch the entrants in action.

It is hoped that the competition and demonstrations will help to raise awareness of first aid and the importance of life saving equipment such as defibrillators which are widely used by the STA in emergency situations and have helped to save many lives.

A number of the STA’s Regional Development Officers will be available at the STA stand 5040 to provide advice on swimming techniques, programmes and the range of STA swimming and life saving qualifications available.
