STA AUDIT - A BUSINESS BOOST FOR BOURNE LEISURE

Results from a comprehensive quality audit conducted by the STA across 35 Haven and British Holiday Parks operated by Bourne Leisure Ltd have revealed high staff and customer satisfaction with its ‘Learn 2 Swim’ and teacher training programmes.
The feedback was obtained using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), based on observation, customer and employee responses and business targets. Both qualitative and quantitative assessments were used to identify how successful the provision of swimming is across the holiday company. Two audits conducted in May and September provided a comparison of activities over the main season. Over 42,000 children took part in Haven and British Holidays Learn 2 Swim programme in 2005, with over 10,000 swimming sessions conducted.
Figures revealed an overall improvement of 4% in the five months from May to September in the average audit score, which increased from 78% to 82%. The statistics also outlined some outstanding individual site performances, and new opportunities for water based activities that can compliment the existing Learn to Swim programme.
Steve Franks, STA’s Operations Director, said: “The STA is currently enjoying its third season working in partnership with Haven and British Holidays. The results of the audit have outlined the level of commitment made by all the staff and the high standard of swimming provision across the company. They also allow positive changes to be made and new services to be offered.”
Other key findings showed that the number of people enrolling on the Learn to Swim programme and level of repeat visits has helped to generate new business opportunities for the parks in 2005. The swim programme has also been used to promote Haven and British Holidays to new holiday makers.

As a result of this successful partnership, Bourne Leisure Ltd has now taken on the STA swimming teaching and Learn to Swim programme at their Butlins Resorts and is committed to conducting further quality audits in 2006.
