CHILDREN HAVE SPLASHING TIME WITH DIEGO
02.11.2006
In October, more than 120 children aged from 5-11 years took part in STA water safety workshops, which were organised in partnership with Twentieth Fox Home Entertainment to celebrate the launch of Ice Age 2:The Meltdown on DVD.
The events took place at Esporta Health Clubs in Bristol, Wolverhampton and Southampton, and saw children participate in a water safety game that was specially designed by STA, as well as a free swim session courtesy of Esporta. In addition, sporting superstar Du’aine Ladejo made a special appearance along with, the Ice Age Character, Diego the Tiger - Diego himself learned to swim during the film Ice Age 2: The Meltdown.
Dave Perry, STA’s Regional Development Officer for the South, attended the Southampton event, and said: “It was a really good day, and the message of water safety was put across to the children in a fun way. Diego went down a treat with the children, who were all over him and making his tail wiggle! It was a lot of fun.
“We hope these children will now know that, although water can be fun, it can be dangerous if not respected.”
