HAT-TRICK OF SUCCESS FOR STA

01.02.2007

STA has recently signed new partnership agreements with Barnsley Premier Leisure, Selby District Council, and Oldham Community Leisure to provide a wide range of accredited swimming teaching, NaRS Lifeguarding / Lifesaving, first aid, and Aquacise programmes. All three organisations have also committed to working towards STA's prestigious quality standard, STAmark and the Pool Plant Tutors qualification.

Barnsley Premier Leisure has embraced STA's qualifications and is converting all of the Trust's members of staff to STA qualified status. They have already completed the conversion of all of their swimming teachers to STA, are qualified with Aquacise Tutor status, and the NaRS lifesaving conversion of their RLSS Trainers is currently underway. Barnsley will also be introducing STA's Learn to Swim programme, and the exciting new STARFISH progressive babyswimming programme this month.

Selby District Council has also converted all of their swimming teachers to STA, and will be running STA's Learn to Swim programme. The Council is currently updating and converting their Lifesaving Teaching staff with the intention of fully running the NaRS Lifesaving and first aid programme this year. In addition, Selby District Council's Abbey Leisure Centre was recently presented with the STA Recognised Centre Award to acknowledge the standards of excellence reached and maintained in their NaRS Lifeguarding / Lifesaving and first aid training.

Abbey Leisure Centre's Manager, Bob Lancaster, is delighted with the current development with STA and said: "This partnership means that all current and future instructors will now be STA trained. This ties in perfectly with the current development of our STA 'learn to swim' lesson programme."

Oldham Community Leisure has been presented with an STA Recognised Centre award, having already taken on NaRS Lifesaving. In addition they will be amongst the first in the UK to introduce the STARFISH baby swimming programme, and will also be introducing Aquacise and Special Needs Swimming Teacher training to their existing swimming teaching and lifesaving.

Both Barnsley and Oldham have also achieved tutor status for STA's new Manual Handling Training and Information Passport Award, enabling them to run the course with their respective leisure teams and comply with HSE recommendations.

The introduction of STA's bespoke Partnership Agreement Template, which enables leisure clients to tailor their aquatic training requirements and source their needs from one accredited association, has been credited with this unparalleled success.
