CPREzy – NEW AID FOR CPR
27.07.2007
CPREzy is an interactive aid designed to assist people perform more effective CPR under emergency conditions and should be used in conjunction with approved CPR guidelines, it is not suitable for use on persons under 90lb (40kg).
The kit includes:
- CPREzy Mask for expired air resuscitation
- CPREzy Pad for aiding effective external chest compressions
- Disposable gloves
- Instruction manual
- Support CD-ROM
- Wall mounting screws
Researchers at the University Hospital in Aachen, Germany, have investigated the effect of using the CPREzy, a mechanical guidance and feedback device, in CPR training. Using approved ERC (European Resuscitation Council) training procedures, they found that those students who were introduced to CPREzy during training retained their skills longer when they were later tested.
The researchers concluded:
“The use of the simple, portable and re-usable device CPREzy by previously
untrained people leads to a significant improvement in a cardiac arrest scenario
compared to standard training, regarding rate and depth of the External Chest
Compressions” and “CPREzy is able to achieve an enduring effect
for the compression depth after it has been used for resuscitation training.”
The CPREzy Pad is placed on the lower half of the casualty’s sternum, in the centre of the chest. When turned on there is an audible 100 beats per minute tone, and lights indicate the level of force that is being applied. Rescuers should apply enough force to achieve the depth of compression corresponding to the casualty’s size; the sound and lights provide the rescuer with information to deliver chest compressions at a consistent rate and depth.
The CPREzy is now available to buy online at the STA Swim Shop
