Special
Needs
The STA is committed to offering the same opportunities to all, including
those with special needs. Thus, ISWSS caters for those that can not be
incorporated into mainstream with the Endeavour
Series covering water skills and the Penguin
Series for distance swimming from 5 metres to 400 metres.
The Endeavour series is especially designed for those of any age who
as a result of a disability of any kind cannot take part in mainstream
lessons or who by the nature of their disability cannot perform a conventional
stroke; please refer to the ISWSS Resources Manual for further recommendations.
Assessors are expected to use their own initiative to gauge the distance
or quality of performance that shall earn the right to the certificate
and badge; there are five different coloured badges available for this
award.
