Free Fitness-Focused Swimming Activities for National Fitness Day

As ukactive’s Strategic Partner for Aquatics, STA has created a brand-new free swimming resource for its members in celebration of National Fitness Day 2025, taking place on Wednesday 24th September.
National Fitness Day is an annual campaign led by ukactive that highlights the crucial role physical activity plays in helping people across the UK lead healthier lives. Since its launch in 2011, the campaign has inspired millions to get moving – and while the day itself brings people together in powerful ways, it also serves as a reminder that it’s just one step in a bigger journey to better health and wellbeing.
Aligned with this year’s “Powered by you!” theme, STA’s campaign – “Powered by Swimming Teachers” – places swimming teachers at the centre of the action. The initiative provides a list of adaptable swimming fitness games and activities designed to get children and young people moving continuously in the water, while developing strength, balance, coordination, and confidence. The resource is flexible, allowing teachers to tailor activities to suit different age groups, abilities, and lesson formats.
STA has also created a downloadable “Fitness STAr” certificate to help teachers recognise participation and celebrate effort in their lessons – it can also be customised for swim schools to add their own logo.
Jarred Hill, STA’s Marketing Co-ordinator, said: “National Fitness Day is an important date in our marketing calendar. It brings us tangible benefits as a charity, by giving us a valuable opportunity to create, engage, and promote ideas for our members to get involved with – and together we can encourage more people to get fit, and active in the pool.”
The resource is now available on STA Online – designed to help you promote inclusive, engaging swimming in your community.
