STA to Launch New Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification in 2026

Exciting news! STA has confirmed plans to launch a brand-new Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification in 2026 – with full details to be exclusively revealed at the STA Conference on Friday 17th October.

This will replace the STA Award and STA Certificate with one new streamlined qualification.

Having listened closely to feedback from members, swim schools, and employers across the UK, STA has developed this all-in-one qualification to establish one clear pathway for swimming teachers. It will streamline how courses are delivered and managed, while ensuring teachers are equipped to deliver safe, inclusive, and engaging lessons for all ages and abilities across the full learn-to-swim pathway.

This will mark a radical step forward for swimming teacher training – reshaping how courses are delivered, assessed, and supported to meet the needs of today’s workforce and tomorrow’s learners.

With this, the countdown to conference is officially now on – book your ticket here and be the first to hear all the details, including the new features designed to modernise delivery for tutors and strengthen professional development across the sector.
