STA Announces 2025 Garry Seghers Employee of the Year
STA is delighted to announce that Rachel Dean, Head of Despatch, has been awarded this year’s Garry Seghers Employee of the Year.
Rachel will celebrate 34 years at STA in January, and her commitment throughout that time has been nothing short of exceptional. She plays a pivotal role in overseeing our despatch department and managing the STA Swim-Shop – sourcing and buying products, securing the best prices on everything from badges and clothing to equipment, and working closely with our technical and marketing teams to ensure quality and value across the full range for STA members. Her work behind the scenes keeps operations running smoothly and ensures customers receive the high standards associated with STA.

Dave Candler, STA CEO, said: “Rachel is the definition of dedication. For more than three decades she has worked tirelessly to support our members, our tutors and the wider STA team. Her attention to detail, her commitment to service, and her ability to always go the extra mile make her an invaluable part of the association. This recognition is thoroughly deserved, and we are incredibly proud of her.”
A huge congratulations to Rachel on this well-earned achievement.
The award is sponsored by Garry Seghers, who has been teaching swimming and lifesaving around the world for more than four decades. A former STA employee and former CEO of IFSTA, Garry now works in Vietnam, continuing his lifelong commitment to water safety, education, and to STA.

Rachel was presented with her award at the STA Staff Christmas Meal on 2nd December, and is pictured here with Dave Candler.
