Sir Henry Pike Award 2013 – 2014

As announced in the last e-Zine, Teresa Griffin has been honoured with STA’s 2013 Sir Henry Pike Memorial Award, which was recently presented to her by John Holden, Regional Organiser for East Anglia at a special presentation at Arch Bishop Sancroft High School in Harleston.

The short presentation ceremony took place in front of parents, teachers and children belonging to Water Lilies Swim School, which is owned and run by Teresa.

As well as John and Teresa; in attendance was Carol Garrett, the chair of Worlingworth Parish Council, where Teresa lives. Carol presented Teresa with her replica trophy and Suffolk’s ASA President, Dave Robinson, gave a vote of thanks. David went on to say that it was very pleasing that the accolade of a national award has come to Suffolk in the name of swimming and that Teresa was a worthy winner.

John added that it was the second time in three years that the award has come to Suffolk, with Theresa Bex-Elmer being the previous winner in 2011.

Pictured here at the ceremony are John Holden, Teresa, Carole Garrett Chair of Worlingworth Parish Council, David Robinson Suffolk ASA President and Jackie Carter representing Arch Bishop Sancroft School where the presentation took place.
