STA is delighted to welcome Alex Barrett as its new Head of Aquatics, further strengthening the organisation’s commitment to supporting swimming teachers, operators, tutors and aquatic professionals across the UK.

Alex joins STA with more than 14 years’ experience across the physical activity, aquatics, leadership and volunteer sectors, bringing a strong background in participation development, strategic leadership and workforce growth.

In his new role, Alex will help lead and develop STA’s aquatic offering, supporting members, enhancing learn to swim products and qualifications, and driving the continued growth and development of STA’s aquatic portfolio and team.

Prior to joining STA, Alex held the role of National Participation and Growth Manager, where he led work focused on strengthening long-term sustainability and expanding high-quality participation opportunities across the aquatics and leisure sector.

Alex, who started in the role this month, said: “I’m incredibly excited to be joining STA at such an important time for the sector. STA has a long-standing reputation for championing high-quality aquatic education and supporting teachers and learners across the UK. I’m looking forward to working with the team, members and partners to help further strengthen and grow the organisation’s aquatic offering and continue making a positive impact across the industry.”
