Helping a Turtley Awesome Project in Ruislip

For 2024, STA is running a year-long charity campaign called CommUNITY STArters, which is directly aimed at supporting not-for-profit organisations or groups; to help them start or boost a community-based grassroots swimming / water safety / aquatics related project.

As part of this campaign, each month in 2024, one organisation / group / project will be chosen to receive a £1000 charity grant from STA, and we are delighted to confirm that the recipient of the March award is Ruislip Turtles Swimming Club.

Ruislip Turtles, which is run as a charity by dedicated volunteers, provides swimming lessons for anyone with physical, mental health or learning difficulties, and also offers opportunities for competitions by way of galas against other swimming clubs for people with disabilities.

Ali Beckman, STA’s President said; “I chose Ruislip Turtles this month because the CommUNITY STArters funding will allow the club to continue hosting a swimming event where eight other disability swimming clubs can participate, providing potential pathways for future para-Olympians. I look forward to seeing the results of these events and knowing that the STA can potentially play a part in a swimmer pursuing their para-Olympic dream is extremely exciting. Well done Ruislip Turtles.”

Cheryl, Chief Instructor of Ruislip Turtles, said; “Thank you so much STA, clubs like Ruislip Turtles depend on generous donations and support. It is a tremendous message to pass on to our volunteers and our membership that are Invitation Gala will be sponsored fully by the STA.”
